baby's of all kinds

Braylin came over today to meet Lucy. So of course I had to get the camera out! Unfortunately, Braylin was a little more cautious about the puppy than we expected. It was Lucy's first time seeing a human so close to her size, so of course she was a little (more) rambunctious. Although I didn't get any pics of them together, I did get some great wintery pics of Braylin in out in the back yard and some of Lucy loving her "baby". (Edited 3/11/08: more pics added)

Tim wanted a pic of him with his two favorite girls. (Favorite other than me of course!)

Shelley's done it!

Well, Tim and I are proud new parents again for the 4th time! Yes, we did it! That little puppy was all I could think about since Thursday night! So she is now ours. I was kinda a basket case making the decision. I was so worried about the cats. So far it's been ok. I was most worried about Oden, but it seems that Mugsy is having the hardest time. Hissing some, but at least she's not hiding. Loki's doing her usual thing, coming out when she feels like it. I think that the fact that the cats are all out and standing their ground is a good sign! We are taking it slow, keeping Lucy in her crate to let the cats get comfortable with the idea of her. (don't worry, she's not in the crate all the time, just around the cats) It's crazy, but she loves that thing already and is going in it on her own to relax.

All the cats would sneek up to the crate in the kitchen: Here's Loki doing it

If you look carefully Oden is peeking from behind the stove and the top of Mugsy's head is peeking over the top stair on the right side

Oden, he did make it a little farther than this

Mugsy stretching a little more to try and see what was going on, poor thing is pretty freaked

Lucy already loves her stuffed sheep, she's carrying it around plops her head down on it

She's so tired, she kept crawling into her crate and napping

Puppies!

We took my mom today to get a new puppy!  She wanted a golden retriever.  We soo lucked out and a friend had a friend who had a friend (don't you love the bar business) who had pure bred golden retrievers that she was giving away.  Just to clarify, pure bread in my family really means nothing.  Every dog we've ever had has looked exactly the same.  I just call them "Detroit" dogs.  If you live here, you know what I mean, they are all black and brown.  In pictures of the dogs my family has owned, we never even know which one is which.  They're great dogs, and we always would get an older dog from the humane society, cause my dad always told us that somebody else will take the puppies, we needed to save the adults.  There are two in my family right now, my mom has Rudy and my sister Heidi has Cali.

So back to the puppies!  It took all of my will power not to bring one home!  And I mean all.  Tim and I are both super softies when it comes to animals.  He is sometimes worse than me, always wanting to get another cat (his reasoning being we don't have one in every color yet, yeah, he's that cute or crazy!)  We made it out of there without a new baby, but I'll tell you, it is still on my mind.  We left the last of a litter of 9 all by herself, with no more brothers and sisters.  On the way out, I couldn't talk, for fear that the tears would start.
Crystal is the woman who has the mama, and also an older brother of these adorable little ones.  She was so great and welcoming to us!  I appreciate it so much.  It is always nice to meet people who are so kind and actually care about their animals!  Thank you Crystal!
You've always got to make out a lil before going home together! : )

This is us pouting to Tim that we should all go home together.

This one is my favorite!  How funny are they?  I think it's love.

And this is Rosie, she actually got to go to her new home tonight!

Elwood

This post is for one of my greatest friends, who happened to throw her back out, and as a result is spending more time on her computer than she usually would. Looking for things to keep herself occupied, she's reading my blog. Yip-ee! Readers!

I never wanted cats. But thanks to Elwood, I am officially a "cat lady"! You see, it's his fault because I went with Heather when she went to get him. The Detroit Humane Society is where I fell hard and fell fast for my dear Oden. He choose me that day, and he is definitely one of the greatest things that ever happened to me! So Heather these are for you. We will have a real shoot for him soon, I promise! I hope you feel better soon! But even when you do I hope you keep reading my blog! :)

He of course wanted to know what was in the lens, which made him too close to focus on.
Still cute though!

The Path
I actually picked this photo to post before I started writing the post. When I was done writing and looked at it again, I realized it is perfect for what I had to say. I love this photo, I have since i first took it. (It's actually more than one photo stitched together.) The path under the trees looks to me like such a exciting, interesting, and scary place all at the same time.

(This one is a good one to click on a view full screen.)
I am going to try and post on a regular basis. Eventually, I will have my own photography business. This is a way for me to document how and what happens, while sharing some of my work and experiences along the way. The idea of working for myself and taking pictures is so exciting to me that I often cannot fall asleep at night. That's okay though, it's fun to not be able to fall asleep when it's because you are thinking of something so exciting!
